August 2019

Subject: Tool Building Workshop
Presenter: George Corder, Hanford, Ca.

The sawdust session at George's shop in Hanford was a perfect setting for the event. The participants arrived with empty turned tool handles in hand. For 6 hours George’s wood shop was converted into a metal shop with the sounds of grinding, drilling and tapping resonating from within. Many taps were sacrificed reminding the turners that there was a learning curve in tapping metal, but success was had by almost everyone. At the completion of the event, two completed carbide tools went home with each member. After a few hours we broke for lunch consisting of barbecued Elk Brats, sub sandwiches with all the trimmings and Hanford’s Superior Dairy Fresh Peach Ice Cream to top off the meal. A special thanks goes out to George Corder for and outstanding day!
